Symbiosis
Symbiosis
Water is life, and within all bodies of water are countless unseen organisms.
Symbiosis explores connections: physically through genetics and DNA, and conceptually through material and processes.
Daughter Colony
An ongoing series of variable number. This grouping shows the process of single-cell organisms in reproduction. When organisms procreate in this way, physical mitochondrial DNA is transferred from parent to offspring directly through mitosis.
Differentia
20 pieces, each a different species of diatom or radiolaria. These microscopic aquatic organisms are responsible for cleaning polluted water. Their skeletons are comprised of pure silica, which is the substance in porcelain and glass that allows for translucency.
Arborescent
A grouping of wall forms, connected to each other through branching segments. Organisms that generate in this way are physically connected to the parent organisms. The symbolic connection to family and generation exists even on the microscopic level.
